Car Maintenance Checklist

Car maintenance is extremely important as it can lengthen your car’s life. We usually overlook maintenance and that causes troubles for the car in the long run. You would indeed be lucky if you carefully take care of your car now and never let it commit any fault in the middle of the road in the future. Vehicle maintenance is probably not as hard as we think, but the main thing is that we think this way and as a consequence, we neglect it. Probably, it is not a good method.

Therefore, to help you out and make car maintenance a breezy task for you, we have prepared this checklist that you can follow and keep your car healthy.

Inspect All the Fluids

Inspect all the fluids

When it comes to cars, there are a lot of fluids involved. They are extremely important for a car to run smoothly. Hence, you need to check them frequently. To start, you should look at the coolant levels in your radiator. The radiator is right in front of your engine and it has the job of cooling the engine temperature, so it is important. Next, you should check the engine oil level. Every engine has a dipstick that can tell you the oil level. Lastly, the transmission fluid also needs to be checked.

Check the Tires

Check the tires

Tires are for cars what shoes are for humans. An imperfect condition of the tires will drastically reduce the road gripping ability of the vehicle and it will become more vulnerable to accidents. Thus, this is a means of preventing slippage and other related problems with the tire’s upper rubber surface. Progressively, only tread is left as a result of the friction condition, and the task at hand is for you to check whether the grooves are deep enough for safe driving. Though in case you don’t know this, in a nutshell, a good way to equally measure the intervals of the life of your tires is to change them every 50,000 miles or so.

Check the Battery

check the car battery

A car’s battery must be at its best if it is to fuel all the important systems in the car. It is responsible for these functions: ignition, illumination of headlights and taillights, and working of the stereo when the vehicle is switched off. It is easy to check the battery of the microcontroller. Simply check the battery electrolyte levels every other week, and see if the levels are still OK. If the levels are low, then simply refill the electrolyte.

Replace Wipers

Replace the car wipers

You should inspect the windshield wipers every month. These are made of rubber and can deteriorate pretty fast if they are being used constantly. You should get new wipers before the summer season starts and you should clean your old ones every other week because dirt can get trapped in them, and that can scratch your windscreen.

If you follow these basic maintenance checks, your car will stay safe for a long time.
