Car Maintenance Checklist

Car maintenance is extremely important as it can lengthen your car’s life. We think usually overlook maintenance and that causes troubles for the car in the long run. If you are vigilant and take extra care of your car, not only will it serve you faithfully, but it will also never cause you problems in the middle of the road. Vehicle maintenance is not as laborious as we think, but the point is we think of it that way and as a result, we skip it. That is not a wise approach at all.

Therefore, to help you out and make car maintenance a breezy task for you, we have prepared this checklist that you can follow and keep your car healthy.

Inspect all the fluids

Inspect all the fluids

When it comes to cars there are a lot of fluids involved. They are extremely important for a car to run smoothly. Hence you need to check them frequently. To start, you should look at the coolant levels in your radiator. The radiator is right in front of your engine and it has the job of cooling the engine temperature, so it is important. Next, you should check the engine oil level. Every engine has a dipstick that can tell you the oil level. Lastly, the transmission fluid also needs to be checked.

Check the Tires

Check the tires

Tires are for cars what shoes are for humans. If they are not in perfect condition your car will not have a road grip and it will be more vulnerable to accidents. To avoid that, tire manufacturers put tread designs with grooves in a tire. The tread slowly disappears due to friction and it is your job to check if the grooves are deep enough to be sufficient. However, if you don’t know how to do that, as a general rule of thumb you should buy new tires every 50,000 miles.

Check the Battery

check the car battery

A car’s battery needs to be in perfect condition as it helps run all the major components in a car. It helps start the car, keeps the headlights and taillights functional, and helps keep the stereo running when the car is switched off. Checking the battery is very easy. All you have to do is check the battery fluid levels every other week and re-fill the fluid if the levels are low.

Replace Wipers

Replace the car wipers

You should inspect the windshield wipers every month. These are made of rubber and can deteriorate pretty fast if they are being used constantly. You should get new wipers before the summer season starts and you should clean your old ones every other week because dirt can get trapped in them and that can scratch your windscreen.

If you follow these basic maintenance checks your car will stay safe for a long time.
