The Toyota Hilux can be described as one of the most popular midsize trucks in the industry due to its attributes of toughness, reliability, and improved off-road maneuverability. The current generation of the vehicle is destined to be replaced by an all-new model to be introduced under the name Toyota Hilux Champ by the 2024 model year. As a result, I have been fortunate to be able to find out some of the major enhancements and modifications that Toyota has in the pipeline for this fresh model of this spectacular pick-up. Here is what we believe can be foreseen in the 2024 Hilux Champ model before it is released to the market.

Exterior Styling
What is more, the 2024 Hilux Champ has received a set of more aggressive-looking headlights in the front from Toyota. It also comes equipped with a much larger trapezoid grille for the purpose of correcting the issues with the engine cooling as well as new headlights.
That’s why, in my opinion, a new front bumper looks very muscular and continues the tradition of increasing off-road ability of the truck. It is also worth mentioning that they have improved the hood and front fenders a little bit.
At the rear, though, the alterations are not as radical, new rear combination lamps and the chrome treatment to the ‘Honda’ script elevates the car’s look.
Interior Updates
Inside, Toyota says there will be more head, leg, shoulder, and hip room for passengers, as well as greater cargo volume because the 2024 Hilux Champ is slightly larger on the outside. I am quite pleased to see the larger cabin.
I have always thought that the Hilux interior was somewhat confined. The new model also has new technology and there’s an improvement in the quality of the materials as well. Some of the noticeable changes include the following.
It has a larger touchscreen display that features the latest infotainment software, soft-touch interior, and new leather seats. That truly should have been much more comfortable and refined inside that cabin.
Powertrain Specs
Hold on, it gets better – For the 2024 model of the Hilux Champ, Toyota has fitted it with an all-new 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 engine! Power output is an impressive 400 horsepower and 450 lb-ft of torque respectively, making this the most powerful factory Hilux ever.
It is a significant improvement compared to the current iteration of the model, which has a four-cylinder engine that leaves much to be desired. The towing and payload capacities will be the industry leader. With such figures, I believe that the new Hilux Champ will even compete directly with some of the American large pickup trucks.
Off-Road Upgrades
Further to this new Champ name, the Hilux model has also received significantly improved hardware to give it an immensely greater performance off-road. They have first of all, raised contacts and ramp angles significantly with the help of new sport bumpers, higher suspension, and larger wheels.
It is equipped with new electronically-locking differentials and an improved 4-wheel-drive system for the models with a locking front differential for off-road purposes. When coupled with the added torque from that twin-turbo V6, the 2024 Hilux Champ could be near invincible off-road!
Safety and Technology
Modern trucks must have all sorts of the newest gadgets and safety equipment so the new Toyota Hilux Champ has to contain it. It will be offered with traffic sign recognition, pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, autonomous emergency brake, blind spot detection, rear cross-traffic alerts, and many others.
Infotainment has also received a boost with incorporated wired Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, embedded navigation, WiFi hotspot connection, and OTA update compatibility.
Pricing Expectations
Of course, all these upgrades will be costly and this is an area that will require consideration when making the decisions. The exact price has not been revealed yet and the pricing information is expected to be released soon.
However, the 2024 Hilux Champ is expected to be launched at $45000 and it is expected to be on the showroom floor in early 2023. It will be a significant increase over the current model’s starting price but appears reasonable based on the enhancements to be made.
The base trims can start at $40,000, but fully loaded models with all the off-road gear can go above $60,000. Which still negatively affects the pricing of American counterparts with similar specifications.
The Verdict
The 2024 Hilux Champ is great fun for truck and off-road fans in the making. In this new generation of Toyota Hilux, the automaker appears to have countered all possible complaints previously made about the previous generation model. The powertrain, advanced technology, comfort, safety, and off-road enhancements should make it a standout choice when launched. I am really looking forward to the day when I will be able to get my driver’s license and drive the car. By next year, it looks ready to upset the entire midsize truck market as it is.
