Samsung Prepares AI Driving Assistant That Tracks Behavior and Delivers Real-Time Feedback

Samsung is moving into an area long explored by insurance companies, but with a different angle. The company is working on a feature designed to observe how people drive and respond with guidance meant to improve habits over time.

The idea surfaced through a new application called Driving Insights. The software has been spotted in One UI 9, the upcoming update scheduled to reach Samsung devices later this year. Its purpose is simple on paper. Your phone collects data while you drive, then turns those inputs into feedback.

The system relies on built-in sensors. The accelerometer and gyroscope track movement patterns, which allow the app to understand how the car is being handled. Speed changes, braking force, and steering behavior all feed into the analysis. From there, the app sorts drivers into broad styles, ranging from calm to aggressive.

Once enough data is gathered, summaries begin to appear. These reports aim to describe how the user performed over a given period. A balanced driving pattern might be highlighted with comments about safety and efficiency. A more rushed approach could trigger suggestions focused on smoother inputs and better control.

The tone is direct. “This week, your driving was practical and balanced. Good balance of safety and efficiency,” is one example of how the system communicates results. Another message shifts direction. “This week, your driving had a dynamic pattern. Try to keep speed and steering smooth for consistency.” The structure feels familiar, yet the delivery comes from an AI layer rather than a human evaluator.

Notifications are also part of the experience. Sudden acceleration or sharp braking events are flagged as they happen. This creates immediate awareness, not only after the trip ends. Over time, users gain access to a history of their drives, with the option to revisit specific journeys and review the recorded data.

The reports will appear inside Samsung Now Brief. Each summary is generated through artificial intelligence, adjusting its tone based on the data collected. The feature extends beyond simple tracking. It builds a pattern, then responds to it.

There is a broader implication behind this direction. Similar tools already exist within insurance programs, where safer driving often leads to lower costs. Samsung is approaching the same concept from the device side. Whether partnerships follow remains unclear, though the overlap is obvious.

Questions around data handling remain open. The system collects detailed behavioral information, which places pressure on how it is stored and used. That aspect will likely draw attention as the feature rolls out.

For now, the timeline points to a summer debut, starting with Samsung’s next wave of foldable devices. Wider availability is expected by the end of the year, including the Galaxy S26 series.
