Here are the details on the 2024 model year Mazda MX-5 Miata’s pricing: Mazda has revealed the price of the fifth generation of its famous roadster. The legendary two-seater convertible fun-to-drive has been updated for the year 2024 and will be available in dealers by the end of the calendar year with an initial price of $28,985.

The new Miata being developed for the 2024 model will retain the “Kodo” theme established in the current ND generation model that was launched for the 2016 model year. Externally it will remain relatively similar to the current model for 2024 although smaller with smooth curves and its distinctive smiling grille as standard.

Several new hues have arrived on the scene with this car and include the Zircon Sand metallic. But overall Mazda has been consistent with the old saying that says “if it isn’t broken don’t try to fix it” when it comes to the Miata’s award winning look.

Improved Technical Specifications and Other Features

Although the 2024 model of Mazda MX-5 Miata shares its exterior design with the current model, it does get a few notable improvements inside the car. There is a standard 7-inch center touchscreen display which has a larger size compared to the previous model and supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability.

Another addition across the range is blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alerts which enhance the confidence of drivers who want additional assistance when they are reversing or changing lanes. Leatherette seating in either black or tan has also become par for the course.

Two Distinct Trim Levels, Similar Powertrains

Remaining in its lineup for 2024, Mazda has the MX-5 Miata in Sport and Club configurations. Both the models are driven by a naturally aspirated 2.0L SkyActiv 4-cylinders and produces 181 horsepower with 151 lb-ft of torque and the engine is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission only.

Now, Mazda’s commitment to stick shift in the era of paddles and electric gear shifters has only further solidified the Miata’s stance as a driver’s car. No slushbox for sorry automatic fans – and to be honest, there should be no place for such a box in a proper roadster.

Up by a Tad from 2023

The base Mazda MX-5 Miata Sport remains the lowest trim for the 2024 model with a $490 surge in price to $28,985 excluding the destination fee. As there are signs of inflation and equipment addition, this has more of a ring of value maximisation. Joining the Club, however, adds another $1,750 to start at $30,735.

Compared to direct competitors within the subcompact sports car market, such as the Subaru BRZ and the Toyota GR86, the Miata remains much cheaper than both in terms of the base price. Mazda should be commended in making this car still accessible to the market notwithstanding the economic conditions.

Driving Dynamics Remain Unmatched

As for the year 2024, there is not much to discuss concerning the updates as it could be considered that the Miata has only external enhancements and the best driving characteristics that have always been the brand’s successful concept. The light weight of the car, the almost ideal weight distribution, the short lever but precise gearbox and the characterful, free-revving NA engine encapsulates the essence of a roadster.

There’s only a slight enhancement of the ride comfort for the 2024 model with changes in damping rates. But do not be fooled, this car can still change directions with lightning fast moves and has very quick reactions while still maintaining that top priority of fun driving. In a way, the Miata remains blissfully unaware that certain elements of automotive design from the decades prior have been forgotten in the present.

Outlook for 2024

The inflation continues to go up, and costs of vehicles have gone high across the auto manufacturers, but the 2024 MX-5 Miata appears to deliver impressive value proposition in today’s buying power. Tinkering isn’t going to upset the Miata’s core base, and Mazda has wisely not overhauled their beloved roadster much for the 2024 model.

Beautiful looks and unrivaled driving excitement of lightweight rear wheel drive convertible signifies that this car will continue to have active demand. I forecast wait lists for the 2024 even though the new car registrations are suffering in general. Here is presumably where one prays that Mazda will continue to adhere to this special kind of sportscar for many generations to come.
